Afternoon all, WARNING: If you're not in the mood for a rant about sales departments then hit <DEL> now! :) I'm trying to do some forward planning (yes I know.... I shouldn't have even considered it!) I want to know what it will cost to get better upstream speed from my shop on Mairehau. (2mbit HFC is ok at present, but won't be soon) So I called TCL, FX and TNZ. How does one talk to someone that knows about something other than ADSL? TNZ get the prize for being the most amusing, I listened politely for some time to the woman telling me all the features of their new firewall product for SOHO, before explaining that it was a bit like a half ton ute and I was looking for a price for an 18 wheeler. That was after I'd been through 3 operators and 4 VMS systems. TCL was quicker to get me speaking to a person... but took me time to get him past the $34.95 + GST plan. Is VDSL2 @ 7mbit really all they have off those nodes in Chc? Aren't they fibre fed? And surly they wouldn't put a VDSL dslam in for 1 customer? I'm the only person pulling data off the node at present. (Some TV, but apparently either everyone's getting BB from Vodafone 3G or Telecom DSL, or they're just not getting data in Mairehau) FX, no VMS, YEAH! err.... all staff in sales meeting and have yet to hear back. /rant Cheers Don
