Hi All, I seem to recall some discussion a while back about the current state of orbz and also in relation to Xtra, but I can't locate it since the archives are not searchable. (At least not the ones I found) Is anybody here using any kind of automatic spam blacklisting system like orbz with success ? By success I mean that apart from being reliable, that it cuts down a worthwhile amount of spam but without blocking legitimate stuff. I know Xtra was blacklisted for quite some time, was that ever resolved ? Am I just asking for problems even just thinking about something like this ? Comments ? Regretfully, you sure as hell are. Actually, I'm not sure what happened to ORBS? Did it fragment into many baby-orbii, or what? One could argue, and I have, that the very instant ORBS black-listed someone for any reason other than running an open relay mail server, it went over to the Dark Side. "Cartoony threats" are just that, cartoony, and not worth worrying about. And acting on them only dilutes the purity of your cause. :) JSR -- John S Russell | Smile Operations Manager | Nod Attica/Callplus NZ | Build it. - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Well, ORBS closed down as far as I know, and now there is ORBZ, I don't know the relation between the two.... Regards, Simon - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
Absolutely no link between ORBS and ORBZ, except they do the same basic thing, and ORBZ ripped off the ORBS name. :P ORBS ceased to exist after Alan Brown's little escapade... Hes now AWOL and ORBS is no longer blacklisting anyone, cartoony reasons or no :) Mark - Quicksilver. We took on the MIS Customer base. For some reason ppl assumed we took on ORBS too.. *cringe* At 16:07 3/12/01 +1300, Simon Byrnand wrote:

Actually, I'm not sure what happened to ORBS? Did it fragment into many baby-orbii, or what? More like one head got chopped off and several heads replicated from it I have stopped keeping track of what is and isn't going. but if you look at this page http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Abuse/Spam/Blacklists/
You'll find there's orbl, orbs-uk, orbz, ordb, spews etc etc etc Have fun Lin - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
