Spam levels in the last 24 hours?
Hi guys - Has anyone else noticed a huge increase in Spam levels in the last 24 or so hours? This is only from 2-3 accounts on 2 ISPs (Orcon and Paradise), but I have gone from seeing 1-2 per day to about 30 making it past the (ISP based) filters in the last 24 hours. Interested to hear from mail admins as to whether this is just me being unlucky, or if there's something screwy happening here... Hey Neil, Yeah I've seen a lot over the last week slipping through my spamassassin as I whitelist new zealand mailservers with a Negative 5 rating. I think people are getting their spam out before the bill is passed. I havent digged into where they coming from but have noticed .nz Sites and email addresses in the content. Barry
If people are detecting NZ sourced or related spam, I would welcome them sending me full headers (within reason - not thousands of them). Some MPs have a perception that there is no local spam problem. While I agree that because NZ ISPs are generally top rate at killing spammers, very little is sent through a NZ ISP, what is not widely known is there are a growing number of NZers involved in spamming, mainly through overseas proxies. So as I said any spam with a clear NZ link to it, I welcome. Possibly send me a separate email to say you have forwarded any spam on, so I know to check my spam folder where hopefully the forwarded spam will be :-) DPF

Ohh Ohh, remember they not a "National" isp because their traffic goes
Inter-National. David is interested in headers from national providers.

They're called TelstraClear now though.
