SPAM & OFF TOPIC BLATHERING
OK, this list is not getting full of noise and lots of off-topic messages... which is sure to upsets lots of people (like me on a bad day, except I'm as much to blame as anyone at present!). Is there any interest in creating another more informal list for these purposes, something as an alternative to what Usenet was once used for before many of us here gave up on it. Suitable ideas for the list might be: -- vendor flaming -- telco flaming -- domainz flaming -- OS flaming -- extreme levels of buffoonery -- 'classifieds' for hardware and jobs sort of thing. Cool :) Happy to resurrect nzio if anybody wants to use it. Using it to send pointless bickering and off-topic junk would be far more enjoyable and productive than using it to try and turn isocnz into an organisation with a useful purpose. I can donate nznog-discuss(a)2day.com as long as somebody else wants to be the list admin (not that it needs much!) Any takers? This is actually quite a useful exercise sometimes. Considering the number of people on the list (200 last time I looked) and their positions an ISP will usually at least look at publicly made complaints. Although I don't the majority of complaints tend to cast the complainer in a worse light than the complainee. I was going to do a count of the number of posts to the list each month this year so far but it appears the web archive is broken (only about the first 30 articles for each month are kept). I doubt email to this list makes up more than 10% of the mail for anyone on it. -- Simon Lyall. | Newsmaster | Work: simon.lyall(a)ihug.co.nz Senior Network/System Admin | Postmaster | Home: simon(a)darkmere.gen.nz ihug, Auckland, NZ | Asst Doorman | Web: http://www.darkmere.gen.nz --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
