I often feel the need to either put up for sale network related equipment, or parts thereof, or ask for certain gear. For example, routers, Max boxes, Cisco routers cards (we have some which we don't use anymore, and others we may need), etc. The nznog list is not to be used for 'commercial' purposes... But it is silly if the NZ network managers could all benefit of trading used equipment, but we cannot use this mailing list for it. So, I would like to suggest that either this list is ammended to allow 'trading' of used network related equipment, or that we set up a separate list for this purpose. Comments? I'd favour the former. --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Agreed. This list isn't exactly high-volume, and procmail is my friend anyway. --- Matt Camp Head Geek Quicksilver / Mercury --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Hey... you could do it kinda like Ebay... I'd not mind seeing a bit of extra volume, so long as it didn't degenerate into misc.forsale. Of course, I'm biased, seeing as I have stuff that could be sold here :) Cheers, Craig
Yeah, let's lower the signal to noise to a point where the list is truly useless for its original purpose. Oh, wait... never mind, we're already well past that point. On Thu, 26 Apr 2001, Craig Reynolds wrote:

I'd probably prefer a seperate list for vaguely relevant, arguably useful stuff like router/nas/server gear for sale and geeks scrounging jobs, if traffic along those lines became intrustive (which, so far, it hasn't been). However, I'd hardly class nznog as having a s/n ratio such that it's made useless - this list is about the lowest-traffic list I'mm subscribed to. Maybe the list should have follow-ups set to alt.alien.vampire.flonk.flonk.flonk and rec.guns? That'd bump up the traffic some, I reckon. -- Juha --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
