Switch Outage at APE - Monday 7 May 2001. There MAY be a small outage of the APE core switch on Monday morning, 7 May, while the switch is replaced with one of larger capacity. We expect this to be at around 10am. The replacement will be done live so the visible outage will be only the time the switch takes to notice that MAC addresses have shifted ports. There will be other work done in the APE facility at the same time, including the addition of several new connections and at least one upgrade. Any business hours questions should be via 04-917-0200, after hours via 04-385-9003 or I can be contacted on 021 897 089. Of course email works and I will check it over the week end. On a different subject, I am close to installing an ATM interface on the APE switch. I am interested in the level of interest in the network community for users to connect to APE (or WIX) via the various ATM networks. Anyone interested in ATM access to APE or WIX, please let me know ASAP. It won't happen on Monday, but as soon as I can lay my hands on some cards.
