On Tuesday, 31 October 2000, the Waikato University secondary name service for .nz domains (ns1.waikato.ac.nz) will be shut down. Users of this service should migrate to the Domainz public secondary (pubsec.domainz.net.nz) or other secondary name services. Domains that have not been migrated from ns1.waikato.ac.nz by 5pm on 31 October will be re-delegated to use pubsec.domainz.net.nz, and secondary service set up accordingly. However, since this change can not update configurations of primary name servers for name holder domains, the following adverse effects may be noted: (1) The delegation information at the .nz name servers will not match the delegation records held at the primary, and queries may still be directed to ns1.waikato.ac.nz due to caching; (2) The public secondary (pubsec.domainz.net.nz) may not be able to transfer domains from the primary servers. This may be due to firewalls or the primary name servers being configured to only permit name transfers from ns1.waikato.ac.nz. (The IP address for ns1.waikato.ac.nz is 140.200.128.13; for pubsec.domainz.net.nz it is 202.46.160.4.)
