Hi all, It's always mystified me as to why emails like this are formatted as such (at least by by MS Outlook 2003). I guess it's my fault for continuing to use this as my email client, but... 1. Neil's last email to the list is first displayed as a blank body with an "Untitled Attachment (3 KB)" (plus the NZNOG footer as a txt attachment) 2. Open the first attachment and get another blank body with "Untitled Attachment (2 KB)" 3. Open this attachment and get another blank body with "Untitled Attachment (2 KB)" plus Neil's .vcf file. 4. Open the first attachment and get another blank body with 2 attachments - 1 txt file (483 B) and 1 htm file (1 KB) 5. Open the first txt file to read his message. WTF? Is it just me or MS LookOut or what? <beer /> Steve ________________________________ From: Neil Ramsay [mailto:neil.ramsay(a)agentnoel.geek.nz] Sent: Saturday, 13 November 2010 5:45 p.m. To: NZNOG List Subject: Re: [nznog] 2degrees contact

Partly. He signed the e-mail with his PGP key - something that MS LookOut is unlikely to deal with very well. Then it's going to the mailing list. Normally the mailing list adds some text at the bottom, but seeing the content is Mime encapsulated that text gets appended as another Mime part. It can look pretty ugly. Honestly though, I think sending a vcard is a bit naff, also. When it says "Name: The name in the e-mail header, EMail: The address in the email header" I just cry. (Hi Neil :-) I sign my e-mails with my PGP key too, but Evolution does it a little differently to the way the Enigmail plugin in Thunderbird does it, so mine probably looks a little different in LookOut too.

Wouldn't think it's any different than attaching a .asc file ;) I believe it's a prehistoric client issue. ;) oh, and bugger the beer, where's the whiskey? -- *Leon Strong *| Technical Engineer *DDI:* +64 9 950 2203 *Fax:* +64 9 302 0518 *Mobile:* +64 21 557 300 *Freephone:* 0800 SMX SMX (769 769) Level 15, 19 Victoria Street, Auckland, New Zealand | SMX Ltd | http://smxemail.com The information contained in this email and any attachments is confidential.
