Car parking is available (for a fee) in a large university public access carpark under the huge new Business School on Grafton Road, near the intersection with Symonds Street). http://www.auckland.ac.nz/uoa/home/tm-visitor-parking There is also pay-and-display parking on the surrounding streets (but not on Symonds Street).
