iiNet peering at APE and WIX via iHug
Hi folks, With the recent completion of our Sydney -> Auckland transmission, iiNet/iHug are now exchanging Australian routes at APE from AS4802 via AS7657. WIX connectivity is coming RSN. :) If there are any problems, please get in touch with our NOC via the usual methods (noc(a)ihug.co.nz, +64 9 359 2708, +61 8 9213 1313, INOC-DBA 4802). Welcome to the iiNet folks. Remember that you can see details of the routes that can be announced fron the APE route servers using: http://ape.nzix.net/cgi-bin/ShowRoutes.cgi Similarly from Wellington: http://wix.nzix.net/cgi-bin/ShowRoutes.cgi If you're not peering at one or more of these exchanges there's now even more reason to do so. Check out http://ape.nzix.net/start.html and/or http://wix.nzix.net/start.html

Hmm, thats around half a million people just got added to APE if it is all of iInEt Australia, which is probably twice as many as before. I'd be interested to know if people are seeing a jump in their APE traffic. I suspect most things on APE are very much aimed at NZ users so the jump might not be very much, on the other hand just p2p might be enough to push things. Anyone have some numbers? -- Simon J. Unless Totos has moved lately, the address is actually 53 Nelson St. It is in the middle of the block between Wellesley and Victoria St. http://www.zoomin.co.nz/nz/auckland/auckland/nelson+street/53/-toto/ http://www.totorestaurant.co.nz/index2.html Those of you at loose ends and need somewhere for beer beforehand, the Empire Tavern is nearby at the corner of Victoria St W and Nelson St.
InternetNZ will be supplying attendees with beer.
So will Juha be there? regards Lin

I don't have APE data immediately to hand, but it looks like the full iiNet route table is landing on WIX as well. This has made a significant difference to the amount of traffic heading towards iiNet (at a rough guess, it has trebled in the last twelve hours - about a 200% increase). Cheers Si
