Hope you're all okay over in Christchurch and other areas that were affected. Any major effects on telecommunications? Saw a drop off in NZ traffic at about the time it happened, but it's not clear if they were related. MMC
The drop off you noticed is likely to have been a result of the power outages to end users' premises rather than infrastructure failures I suspect. It doesn't seem that any large players have suffered disruption, though I suspect many have been on generators all day and I can confirm that there's a bit of a wait to get your tank refilled at the moment. We're ok though! Snap was still running, We have quite a few voice mails from our family in
the UK and that phone server is at Snap.
Mobiles were working albeit with network busy messages.
Only got power back an hour ago.
Cheers,
Bill
