Citylink are currently experiencing an outage in our Auckland network. At this stage we suspect a layer 2 loop has been created resulting in a loss of service. We have engineers in transit to the Sky Tower now to investigate. Thanks, Dylan Hall Network Engineer CityLink Ltd

All services should now be restored. If you're still experiencing problems please contact us on 0800 424 895. If you require an incident report for your own consumption or to pass onto affected customers please let me know and I'll add you to the list :) I'll follow up later today with a more detailed post explaining what happened. Sorry for the inconvenience. Dylan On Thu, 2011-07-28 at 11:32 +1200, Dylan Hall wrote:

There isn't enough technical stuff on this list any more.
Here's an illustrative graph of a port facing Citylink at the time of the
issues :)

Applause to Citylink for being upfront with the NZNOG Community. After all,
the target audience of this mailing list knows _exactly_ how it is.
Agree with Blair. Dylans post is almost like a blast from the past, when
engineers could talk technical without risking their comments being taken
out of context, published on the front page, etc etc.
Mark.
