Hey Guys, Trying to find a php / ajax / json or similar method of doing an auto complete on NZ addresses. I.e. when you go to https://maps.google.co.nz/ and you start typing an address like "92 albert str" google will complete the address for you or at least give options for you to click on. I tried my home address and it came up as North Shore, rather than Greenhithe, so wondering if there is a NZ database that's inexpensive or free that is accurate. The address data is not being used for commercial use, rather for emergency services, when someone calls 111, the emergency services will have an address associated with the phone number of the A Party. I've emailed Terralink (who the NZ Police use) so will see what they come back with but would appreciate any other suggestions, off-list is fine. Cheers Barry
Hey Barry, I've recently had to look at the same thing. I got in touch with NZ Post and they had this to say:
Information on the PAF is available here on our website. http://www.nzpost.co.nz/business/direct-marketing/direct-marketing-products-...
You would be looking at a base licence rather than a commercial licence, so the annual subscription fee is $1000 plus GST.
My customer decided not to go with $1000 a year so we just use Google's one and deal with inaccuracies by manually looking up on the NZ Post website if there are any issues. Cheers, Al
LINZ provide the Electoral Street Address database, which provides
house number, road name, locality and territorial authority. 200MB
download and highly accurate*.

*at least I've never seen something out of place. It kinda has to be
accurate doesn't it?
Thanks,
Jed.
