NZNOG 06 - Call for Participation and Papers The next conference of the New Zealand Network Operators' Group is to be held in Wellington between 22-24 March 2006. Our hosts are The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science at Victoria University. The conference will take place the week before the Wellington ICANN meeting in order enable people to attend both events. NZNOG meetings provide opportunities for the exchange of technical information and discussion of issues relating to the operation and support of network services, with particular emphasis on New Zealand. The conference is low priced and has a strong technical focus with the aim and history of getting a strong turnout of technical personal from New Zealand Internet orientated companies. The planned format is one day of streamed Special Interest Group ( SIG ) Meetings followed by 2 days of the conference proper. Please contact sponsorship(a)nznog.org for more information SIG Meetings ------------ The first day of the conference is arranged as parallel tracks to cover subject material which is of interest to particular groups of attendees. Proposals are requested for workshops, tutorials and other appropriate special-interest meetings of interest to Network Operators. Presentations ------------- NZNOG invites presentations on relevant topics. Suitable topics include, but are not limited to Network Monitoring, Peering , Network Design Philosophy, Security and Encryption, IPV6, DDOS, WAN Solutions / VPNs, BGP and other routing protocols, ENUM, Fibre Optics, Wireless, Spam, Mail Servers, Virtual Servers (eg Xen, UML, VMware). Presentations from researchers and from practitioners are welcomed. Presentations don't need to fit any particular fixed length and can be from 30 minutes to 3 hours in length. Lightning talks --------------- Lightning talks are short talks/presentations that last no more than 10 minutes. This is a good opportunity to get your pet topic out there or perhaps to get some experience with presenting without having to go to a full talk. At NZNOG'06 it is planned that there will be at least one hour long lightning talk session. Questions regarding talks can be sent to the same address. The deadline for proposals is November 1st, 2005. While the majority of speaking slots will be filled by November 1st, a limited number of slots may be available after that date for topics that are timely, important, or otherwise exceptional.
