Anyone know of any real issues aside from PSTN congestion?
Out of curiosity... Does anyone know if any real problems aside form heavy PSTN congestion? Presumably these issues would be also paranoia induced such as perhaps power-spikes cause by everyone testing the lights at 00:01... (perhaps there is an equivalent here with water supply?) So far the publicity I've seen has all be along the lines of `business' as usual -- were/are operators elsewhere in the world made aware of issues such as the PSTN congestion? -cw --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

I sent some brief reports to the nanog and apops lists, although they didn't contain much detail. People from Singapore, Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Australia and the UK (probably amongst others) have followed up with similar null problem reports. How much international IP network congestion did anybody see? Arron mentioned (will mention :) a heavy load -- how about anyone else? CLIX actually had a bit of a dip in utilization starting at about 23:45 and lasting 30 minutes or so... I guess people stopped surfing for a few minutes or something. Surprisingly, there is a bit of a spike (70% above `normal') at about 11:45 today; perhaps people checking the governments y2k website or possible not y2k related at all... -cw --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Starting from just before midnight outbound international traffic surpassed inbound for about 4 hours. This is quite unusual. I dialled an ISP in Los Angeles (when I managed to seize a line) and browsed a few NZ sites at around 1am. Performance seemed to be just fine. -jamie --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
