Carrier-neutral colo and peering in Auckland
Hi. I'm after some information about carrier-neutral colocation in the Auckland area in New Zealand. I'd be looking at installing a rack worth of equipment, consuming a couple of kW of power at most. It'd need to be in a facility that's well- serviced by TNZ, TelstraClear or Vector Communications; But preferably able to interconnect with arbitrary other carriers so that we can provide our Australian business/corporate/wholesale customers with IP and MPLS access to their NZ offices (or vice versa) with minimal obstacles. Nearby availability of peering exchanges would be a definite plus. AS4739 has a fairly promiscuous peering policy, and we prefer bilateral peering relationships outside Australia, but MPLA works for us too if it's easy. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to the New Zealand "scene". If anyone feels inspired to send me some off-list information or advice, I'd appreciate it. Hi Mark, It's hard to beat Sky Tower if you want a facility that's well serviced by New Zealand telecommunications providers. All the providers are there in some way or another. APE and F-Root servers are there. The tower managers, JDA, are not related to any of the carriers, so they're as neutral as you can get. Drawbacks are fairly limited and relatively expensive floor space and cooling options. Good for routers and switches, maybe not so good for blade servers or high-density, high heat applications.
