Sporadic, we are one street across - no power from 4:30pm. Some dipstick has the generator set up so it only powers things like computers and "their" cooling, we in the office start sweating. We think we should drink beer while it is still cold - bugger me the fridge is empty. We think there is no point in traveling to the local liquor outlet as we have no cash and they have now power so no EFTPOS. And you say "William Pickering area is fine" - you mean they had power on their EFTPOS machines, just one block away, you mean we could have bought some beer !! I'm going home, I'm going to write a Nagios plug in that can be installed at liquor outlets.... BG

I can confirm that Glenfield North - residential area - appears unaffected, however the Westfield bang in the middle of Glenfield lost some (but not all) power while I was there. I had assumed they had overloaded a phase or 2, until I read my email. Cheers, David Go On Mon, 25 Jan 2010 17:32:30 +1300, Bill Walker wrote

Westies. Subjective and emotive.
Lincoln Rd. Best place in West Auckland to run an ISP - everyone has fibre running along Lincoln Road.
The North-Western motorway citybound in the mornings. If you worked here you wouldn't need to use the motoway right?
Biggest problem: Inability to buy beer or wine in supermarkets. Still a lot cheaper then city prices. Oh, and our local government controlled alcohol cartel funded us a new stadium and many other community benefit projects.
Say, who owns Woolworths, Countdown and Foodtown? Cole Myers - An Australian company. Michael (Opinions expressed are my own)
Mr Hallager.. it has been a while.. I can see why there are so many ISP's strategically placed on Lincoln road.. Why is who owns Woolworths/countdown/food town of any relevance to this list? Because its wine week, that's all. we (Vectorcomms) can arrange redundant 10 gig links to Lincoln road if you need them. Now if only there was somewhere to get some reliable power from ......
