Alcatel-Lucent/Nuage 7850 - Nethui Opportunity to Play
Hi all, I will be up at NetHui and have my hands on a somewhat desirable piece of SDN kit. Namely the ALU 7850. In a nutshell it's an SDN targeted switch 96Ports of 10G+/40G QSFP in a 1U rack, talks openflow, and also has a bunch of Controller stuff courtesy of Nuage. It is designed to act as the Datacentre to Carrier gateway, but it's just a fairly neat piece of hardware. I've had it on my desk for a while and would quite like some SDN boffins who have some use cases to have a poke around with it. Would be very interested in seeing some inter-op with some existing OpenFlow kit. Anyone interested in having a play at Nethui/Intac please let me know in advance. If I get no takers then I probably will avoid lugging it up to Auckland. Kind regards -Joel
will it speak openflow 1.3 to a third party controller?

This is my main criteria too, and also whether it implements the bulk of
the 1.3 spec, especially the ability to do layer2/layer3 stuff in the same
flow

Sounds like exactly what you're asking for is happening later this
year in Wellington...

A bake off between vendors over SDN functionality.
Be sure to sign Alcatel-Lucent up there Joel!
