Dismissed. It's boring. Go ahead and create .whatever.nz. I don't think anyone could give a monkey's whether you do or not. -- Juha Saarinen - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

I'm almost in this camp now. .maori.nz was the last straw. If common sense didn't get in the way of that, then create whatever you want. Seconded. Is this someones way of extrapolating more 'value' out of the .nz namespace, for want of something better to do? Banks are just another commecial entity and not a significant proportion at that? Whats the point? </rant>

I think possibly we should discuss ISP's blocking .bank.nz on our name servers. I'm game to do it.

Which RFC are you going to point to when asked why you did it? -PWM "Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something!" Thomas A Edison - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

If there isn't one that supports it, it's time to write one. -- Juha Saarinen - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Your right about that. But it would probably help a few people feel better. :)

Shall we block maori.nz too? Of course, we'd probably end up with the RRC jumping up and down if we did that. Votes on creating honky.nz or pakeha.nz? :P -- Matthew Poole Network Engineer CallPlus, AKL, NZ
Umm.. creating a 2nd Level domain for around 10 large multimillion dollar
companies?? How many man hours are going to go into
discussing/voting/arguing over something which affects a _VERY_ small amount
of companys (who already have domain names anyway that most people know)
kiwi.bank.nz anz.bank.nz bnz.bank.nz national.bank.nz rural.bank.nz
reserve.bank.nz city.bank.nz taranakisavings.bank.nz countrywide.bank.nz
westbanktrust.bank.nz (I think I missed some)
What about the other good purposes of it? Good examples... (they are banks,
but nothing to do with finance..)
blood.bank.nz sperm.bank.nz piggy.bank.nz nigerian.bank.nz john.bank.nz
Thanks

the.bank.nz ? The question really does have to be asked - exactly for what purpose do we *really* need another 2LD ? Craig is right, the number of people with legitimate uses for this domain is .. well i can see a *bigger* market for things like: isp.nz (Wont that confuse people?) petrolstation.nz supermarket.nz cornerstore.nz car.nz (BMW make cars with IPs nowadays dont they? Dont they have an entire Class A ?) Isnt the whole thing pedantic? I vote a very emphatic NO. (I voted no for maori.nz as well, and I will again. If this sort of thing is implimented merely because those of us who think logically enough to understand that its a waste of time decided they couldnt be bothered, it creates us bigger headaches in the long term and destroys our confidence in the .nz architecture.)
