Speaking of the stablity of different IOS versions, we have a 3640 with 12.0(4)T on it that needs rebooting after about 7 weeks of uptime. Starts spamming the console port with memory allocation failures, although still manages to route stuff.
It's not a particullarly odd setup, just routing between a couple of FE ports, but we are using dynamic packet filtering on it, ala "permit ... reflect outbound".
Ring any bells for anyone? Couldn't see anything that jumped out at me in the later release notes, and wasn't keen on an upgrade just to "try it out"..
Sure, 12.0x is really immature right now and full of bugs. Try the most recent 12.0x release and see if that makes your problems go away. Experience says release start to get usable around about '10 and stable about '16 or so -- so you still have a while to wait. -cw --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Has anyone else noticed the following sort of discrepancy between the time of boot and the uptime? c1.dud uptime is 104 weeks, 3 days, 0 minutes System restarted by power-on at 17:11:15 +1200 Mon Apr 27 1998 System image file is "flash:igs-i-l.110-9", booted via flash yet it was at approximately 17:24 +1200 today when I issued the show hard ;) Cheers -- Sid --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

I had a bit of a peek back in my old stomping ground and couldn't find the same problem! civ1.Canberra uptime is 2 years, 47 weeks, 1 day, 16 hours, 31 minutes System restarted by power-on at 15:59:22 AEST Mon Jun 2 1997 System image file is "flash:igs-p-l.111-9", booted via flash ;-) Phill. -- Phillip Groom - Network Engineer mailto:pgroom(a)netlink.net.nz Netlink Ltd - A Telstra Saturn Company http://www.netlink.co.nz DDI: +64 9 980 8813 FAX: +64 9 980 8901 --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
Amen to that. There are also some specific problems with V12. PPP mulitlink can cause lots of problem. If you have strange problems, crash, restart, hanging, dropping links... and are using ppp multilink, try to turn it off. PPP Multilink often causes ipsec to fail after a couple of megs of traffic. /Martin Donald Neal wrote:
