We've been working with Velocity Networks (http://www.velocitynetworks.co.nz/) to provide a peering exchange in Hamilton. They provide the network infrastructure and CityLink handles the management of the route servers. There's a new web page at http://nzix.net/hix/ with more info. Some of the commentary on network neutrality. The same arguments apply equally well to neutral peering. Wellington IPv6 Internet Exchange

We've been working on changes to the IPv6 exchange so that we have a process for IPv6 that is similar to that for IPv4. There's a new web page at http://v6ix.nzix.net/wix6/ with more info. For those who are current peers (http://v6ix.nzix.net/wix6/peers.html) you'll be able to request changes in the same way as you can for IPv4 using this page http://v6ix.nzix.net/cgi-bin/wix6/ChangeRoutes.cgi You'll also be able to see what's going on at the Looking Glass at http://nzix.net/cgi-bin/lg.cgi?router=rs1-v6.wix.net.nz and http://nzix.net/cgi-bin/lg.cgi?router=rs2-v6.wix.net.nz We've added a second IPv6 route server rs2-v6.wix.net.nz (202.7.0.8) and anyone who has an existing peering session with rs1-v6 should set that second session up soon. Net outage last night?

Good Morning, At approx. 2:30am on 4th September 2008 we experienced a very odd outage, that Orcon support knows nothing about. Just wanted to see if anyone else experienced a similar issue. I, who live north of the bridge, could get to the orcon data centre, but could not get to our queen street office. Other admin who lives south of the bridge could get to queen street office, but not to the datacentre. Unsure if this only effected Orcon or other providers as well. Be good to hear others experiences, or even an explanation if someone has one. Thanks, and kind regards.

NZRR Route Registry Update

Remote monitoring and alerts to email/txt

Just wondering if any users are aware of, or offer, regular remote monitoring services (- e.g. ping etc) to a specified host(s), then alerting of non-communication, to email/txt?Payment in beer/$$s is an option. Replies off-list are fine. Thanks, Paul.
