Subject: [Ipv6-techsig] Possible changes to IPv6 allocation regime
Date: Tue, 27 Sep 2011 10:31:21 +1300
From: Andy Linton <asjl(a)lpnz.org>
I'm being a bit contentious in the subject line but I got you to read
this. :-)
At the recent APNIC meeting in Busan there was a proposal from India to
change the way IPv6 addresses are allocated. It's important to note that
they aren't just asking for this to be the way things are done just for
India but for all of us. It's significant enough that it makes the local
press there:
http://www.thehindu.com/sci-tech/internet/article2485006.ece
Why should you care? Recently there's been some discussion on the INZ
members list about how we should engage on address policy issues from NZ
and this issue will be on the table at the next APNIC meeting in New
Delhi in late Feb next year.
Your views on this might just be important but you need to express them
for them to be heard.

Hi all;
I've started some discussions with a few parties about this already, but
in case any one is interested in learning more - I have a working OpenFlow
based router up here at Vic (based on a Linux PC and a Pica8 3290 48 1GE/4
GE switch). There's quite a bit of work going on in this area and if you
don't already know about OpenFlow http://openflow.org might be
illuminating. Or you could keep using boring old commercial routers. :-)
Booooring. :-)
Also I would like to draw your attention to http://www.isc.org/about/jobs
- I am working pretty closely with the ISC on this and the ISC are
interested in network-saavy developers - per the link, "San Francisco Bay
Area candidates are preferred but exceptions made for the right skill
set." :-)

Dear Colleague,
This is to notify you that one or more objects in which you are
designated for notification have been modified in the NZRR routing
registry database.
These objects are used to configure the various NZIX route servers
(http://nzix.net/) so you can expect the relevant servers to be reloaded
in the near future. The reloading of the servers is staggered over a
period of time so that if you are peering with both servers at an
exchange, you can maintain at least one BGP session at all times and
consequently a full set of routes.
Diagnostic output:
