I am hoping someone else may be able to throw some light on a situation
I am a little hot under the collar about.
My daughter lives in Albert St, Palmerston North. Her partner received
a call from an un-named (still don't know who sorry) telecommunications
company stating that Telecom had had numerous complaints from residents
in the street about the quality of the telephony and data services
provided by Telecom. This company claimed to be working with Telecom to
resolve the issues and they would be taking over the management of my
daughter's services. The account would remain with Telecom but they,
that is my daughter should notice an improvement in their services. NB:
No authority or approval to take any action was given.
A call to the Telecom Help Desk immediately after asking whether there
had been complaints seemed to suggest that there had been giving some
credibility to the cold call.
Some days later, no telephone and no ADSL. A call to Telecom resulted
in their being told the line and DSL service was in the process of being
transferred to another provider. Who to ? Sorry we can't tell you that.
Why not ? The works order is not complete and we still can't tell you.
I didn't authorise any transfer, sorry we still can't tell you. So after
4 days, there is still no service.
I called Telecom tonight, on my daughter's behalf and didn't fair much
better. Apparently, this is not an isolated case and they are trying to
sort out a number of accounts. We have been promised that no
re-connection fee will apply and that there will be a credit for the
days with no service. NB: There has been no formal communication from
the supposed new provider at all just a single cold call.
I concerned that a company had access to all the Telecom account
details, i.e. account holder etc. Was able to initiate a transfer of
both the telephony service and the DSL without any authority and that
Telecom are unable/not permitted to tell the account holder who the
service is going to or what is going on.
Does this scenario found familiar to anyone ?
