I'm facilitating a session on spam at the InternetNZ Summit on Thursday, and am
going to do a quick backgrounder on how big the problem is both overseas and in
NZ, plus look at some potential solutions.
I've got lots of overseas stats but would love to be able to include some more
local stuff. If anyone on the list can easily find out and send to me and
stats they have on spam and their ISP, it would be most welcome. The sort of
stuff I'm after is:
- No of spams received pre day/week/year
- % of spam is of overall e-mail, by number and GB
- Any cost estimates for your ISP either in direct costs such as bandwidth or
indirect costs like % of helpdesk time
- What spam filtering, if any, you offer.
- Any significant problems with false positives using blacklists etc
- what calibre bullets should be used to eliminate spammers :-)
