Update to DNS question

Hi, Thanks to all those who responded to my DNS problem -- 2 weeks of dicking about, and finally some clear answers. For those who asked the details are: NZ domain: cypher.co.nz NS: enigma.cypher.co.nz IP: 202.37.176.1 .COM domain: cypher-international.com, and cypherinternational.com I simply want to point both of these back here. They are held by domains.com, also called dns4less.com, also called tucows.com, and I cannot pry our name off them for 60 days. The issue is more that they WONT add A record(s) until the nameservers are registered with the internic, and while I am aware that other US registrars (such as Network Solutions) can do this -- they can't/wont -- the nameservers have to be registered first. After 60 days I can pry our domain name off them and transfer it to someone useful, but for now..... This is what happens when over enthusiastic co-workers decide to establish a international presence without looking first...... Sigh. Since its Friday, here is a little snippet relayed on from another list....and to confirm rumours - I do have a GbE network at home. Once done you can use your .co.nz (etc) nameserver names that you've registered in your .com zone files, delegation recorsd, etc. If you don't want to wait that long, the quick hack (which I've used before) is smiply to add some extra A records into your .com zone for the nameservers (ns1.example.com, ns2.example.com pointing at the correct IP addresses), and then register the .com zone with those nameservers as the ones for the delegation. At least the NSI system, and maybe others, can then insert the necessary glue records when you do it that way. But it does mean you have two names for your nameservers. Complex DNS problem

Hi, I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but domainz have not been able to help and suggested this list. We are a ChCh company with our own class C address, and as we were active on the net long before there were registrars or agents we do not have one -- I presume we are in effect our own registrar for the .nz namespace. We now have a .com name and wish to redirect accesses to this domain name back to our .nz address, and to do this we have to register our nameserver(s) with the Internic. The US registrar for our .com address cannot do this for us -- they say our registrar must do this for us -- but we don't have one. Domainz cannot do this either. I didn't choose the US registrar, and the particular registrar that was chosen for me in the US cannot register ccTLD's -- is this the root of the problem ?. Is anyone able to point me in the right direction ? I understand that mostly, it is related to their upstream provider, and a lot of problems may have had to do with their caching engine. Probably the best bet is to contact them with your concerns.
