I hope this, but Cisco only say: probe this version, and after that say probe this another and so on. It appear like the Cisco engineer (TAC) don´t know really what is happend here. Thanks!

I'm trying to put on an access server cisco as5200 with support 56kbps. I probed three IOS version (11-3.9T, 11-3-9A and 12.0.1) with different modems (mica) firmwares (2.3.1.0, 2.6.2.0, 2.7.2.0) in differents combinations.
1) you do realise this is a _New Zealand_ Network operators group right?
but the AS works horrible !
2) you've hit the nail on the head. Ditch the crappy Cisco dial in servers and get some Lucent gear (A Max6000 should do what you want). Cisco should stick to routers.
