Is there anyone on the list using mikrotik hardware to receive UFB Handovers from Chorus?
Hey Everyone We have just stood up our first Chorus UFB Handovers in Auckland and Wellington and while the Mikrotik’s are showing the interfaces as running Chorus are telling me their end is “operationally down”. I have tried changing all the settings I have on my end and they are still reporting the same result. I have tried alternative optics, checked light levels with a meter, and even had a Chorus tech out to take a look. Chorus originally pointed to the SFP+ being the issue, now they are saying the config is wrong on my device and that they aren’t “seeing layer two”. I have asked them for any errors on the port or similar and they haven’t reported any to me. I am a little stumped here and would appreciate the advice of anyone doing either 1G or 10G HO Links for UFB with Chorus who could provide any input or any idea of issues they have seen with the configs that would help me diagnose this issue and resolve it. Thank you for your time. Regards Alexander Alexander Neilson Neilson Productions Limited alexander(a)neilson.net.nz 021 329 681 022 456 2326
Hi
Check your auto-neg settings. I've experienced a few Chorus handovers where
you cannot have auto-neg enabled. You need to explicitly turn it off and
set the link to be 1000/F manually.
Is this a single or dual fibre handover?
Cheers

This is a Dual Fibre 10G UFB Handover I have my 1G Shared (EUBA, WVS, HSNS) Handover set to 1000/F and no auto neg so happy that it works like that. I have tried this one both ways and its currently set to no auto neg (tho of course mikrotik doesn’t have a 10G radio button to check so they are all blank there) Regards Alexander Alexander Neilson Neilson Productions Limited alexander(a)neilson.net.nz 021 329 681 022 456 2326

You might need to do it via console? I've heard microtiks aren't completely
feature filled in the GUI sense.
Have you tried looking around for information on manual neg 10g on mikrotik?

I have turned off autoneg I will be working with Mikrotik tonight to try get them involved to look under the hood. I am also going to try dig into some debug output to try find what is playing silly. I will dig into the command line as well and see what undocumented magic is inside. Regards Alexander Alexander Neilson Neilson Productions Ltd Alexander(a)Neilson.net.nz 021 329 681

Just an update to everyone about this. Working through I finally got an update from Chorus. Two ports with the same setup (AKL and WLG) were in different states (we don’t have a live customer in auckland till monday) so seeing that I was able to get the person from Chorus to admin down then admin up the Wellington port and they reported it live. I can now confirm that I can see the customer site across the handover. So just to confirm for the log. Mikrotik 10G optics and 10G hardware can work for Chorus 10G UFB handover ports. I have aslo asked Chorus to take a look and see if they can find anything that would have caused this problem in the first place. Any other questions please feel free to ask on or off list.
