OT: Has anyone recieved a copyright notice yet?
What does it look like? What will you do with it? If you're at an ISP, have you received many notifications from rights holders yet? Are they in a useable format? Are they coming to the right people at the IPAP? Cheers and beers Paul Paul Brislen CEO, TUANZ T: +64 94881882 M: +64 21488188 email: paul(a)tuanz.org.nzmailto:paul(a)tuanz.org.nz @paulbrislen
That's exactly what I was going for so good to know. I'm so used to being totally irrelevant to the day-to-day operation I added it in by default! I'm a tad shocked that I'm even remotely able to post on-topic on this forum... amazing. Of course, I've corrected that now with this post. Cheers and beers Paul In my view these questions address operational and implementation issues directly relevant to ISP's and are not off topic for this list. The same may not be true of philosophical or legal discussion in this area. We started enforcing the new law a while ago by requesting payment from the copyright holder before we would forward the breach notice to the customer concerned. To date we have had absolutely no response from any email sent to the copyright holders or their representatives. This post details our experiences in more detail: http://dts.net.nz/blog/action-on-copyright-infringement-muted/ From: nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz [mailto:nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz] On Behalf Of Paul Brislen Sent: Monday, 5 September 2011 1:15 p.m. To: nznog(a)list.waikato.ac.nz Subject: [nznog] OT: Has anyone recieved a copyright notice yet? The irony of all this is that up until recently, many ISPs were forwarding infringement notices to customers when they were received. Usually, the fact that their activities were being noticed was sufficient to stop them. But now, processing a copyright infringement notice is a paid-for process, enshrined in law. And to encourage rights holders to use the law "properly", notifications are no longer being sent to end users unless the money is forthcoming. It seems to me that far fewer infringement notices will be reaching end users now than before the law came into force ... -- don On 05/09/11 14:11, Tim Price wrote:
