Due to the high per mbit cost of SMW3 and its location, I don’t think that Akamai would have been pushing all that much over it – particularly without a diverse path. I suspect the apple issues they are having is less likely to be a cable cut, more likely to be they didn’t have enough ‘peering’ to apple because they don’t like peering. I know apple recently stood up 16 x 100g peering ports around the world recently which included Equinix Sydney, and they told me they are putting 100g on megaport IX Sydney this week or next.
