WIC New Zealand Ltd ( http://www.wic.co.nz/ ) have stepped forward to host next year's NZNOG conference on 23-25 January 2008 in Dunedin. "I've consulted a map, and while Dunedin isn't in Auckland or Wellington, it does appear to be part of New Zealand", said Jonny Martin, chair of the organising committee. "This announcement represents an opportunity for those intending to come to next year's conference to think about arranging travel more than two or three days before the event." Dear Colleague, This is to notify you that some object(s) in NZRR database which you either maintain or are listed as to-be-notified have been added, deleted or changed. These objects are used to configure the various NZIX route servers (http://nzix.net/) so you can expect the relevant servers to be reloaded in the near future. Backlog of email to Xtra

We currently have a growing queue of email to xtra.co.nz on all of our mail servers. According to Xtra's website, there are no issues. Is this just our problem or is this a little more of a generic problem ? We are just getting lost of "421 Message rejected (in reply to end of DATA command)" errors. Glen.

TCL -> Callplus/Slingshot issues

All day yesterday I was unable to see any of the Callplus/Slingshot network from my TCL cable connection (obviously due to the Telecom problems). This issue was resolved last night but is now occuring again. I've given up trying to ring the TCL helpdesk (wait times listed as 90 mins despite no known network issues) so am at least hoping somebody reading this may be able to look into the issue if they're not already. All other internet sites from TCL are working fine so it appears to be some sort of routing issue somewhere..

Email to SMS gateway

Hi all. I read this on one of our internal mailing lists, thought it might be of interest / use. We use something like this for server monitoring but it's not so good if your email server / network is down, aside from the potential lagginess [SP?] that sometimes occurs with the SMS service. Still, it may have some value to you. Of course if any information below is wrong, please let me know. Cheers... Clark ================================================================================= [forwarded & edited] If you are on Vodafone, you can 'register' you phone by texting the letter R to the number 901. You should then get back a 'you are registered etc' welcome message. Once your phone is registered anyone/thing can send you a txt by using an email address such as: 6421123456(a)sms.vodafone.net.nz Where your mobile number is presumed to be 021-123456. As far as I know, there is no charge for this service.
