As has already been commented, I'm damn sure they aren't allowed to
comment publically on the issues like this - and this list is actually
public.
A more reasonable lament would be to wonder why on earth their helpdesk
was left to make up excuses when the TC knew about the problem very
early and were already working through a plan to resolve the issues.
I know that I would have felt MUCh happier with "We have a known
problem with some core switches - it doesn't affect everyone but is
affecting a lot of people. We're executing a rollback to a known good
configuration. I can't give you a specific ETA on return of service
for you but we expect to have 95% of the affected customers back online
before 3pm", than I was with the "We've got upstream provider
problems I think"
The only difference between the 2 is a 5 minute email to the helpdesk
staff from those in the know.
