Au contraire. I have an apology from Strongnet to DOmainz for using an old zone file (we had withdrawn the Zone Xfers by this time) for spamming the Asia Online customer base, when Asia online were in difficulties. The mild apology was accompanied by an assurance from Strongnet that this zone information would not be used for this purpose again. I let the matter rest at that point. Sorry about the non-beer content, but I've been told twice now that Domainz issued a public apology to Strongnet about the suspension from the NZ DNS last year. Unfortunately, I cannot find any mention of the apology. Progress of .geek.nz, and NO more 2ld submissions

Hi All. Just got this back from InternetNZ re the .geek.nz submission. Interesting to note two things. 1) My request to have .geek.nz processed at the same time as .bank.nz was rejected. They can only apparently handle one at a time. 2) There will be no more 2ld's until they finish a full review. I am unable to give you a precise time frame, as the Request For Discussion (RFD) for .bank.nz opened on August 26 and will not conclude before October 25, nor later than Nov 24. At that stage the straw poll will be arranged, which runs for a two week period, finishing around 9 December. Until then, we will not know whether that application moves into the next stage of public submissions, a period which runs for another 30-60 days. Note, that should .bank.nz fail to meet the threshold in the straw poll, that would mean that the .geek.nz proposal would move into the RFD stage in mid-December, a timing which may not give the proposal as much attention as might otherwise be the case. Updated DNS monitoring

Hi, NZNOGers. [ Apologies to those of you who have received this note in other fora. ] I've crafted several enhancements to my DNS monitoring suite. I am now monitoring the gTLD name servers, and you can see the data here: http://www.cymru.com/DNS/gtlddns.html (graphs) http://www.cymru.com/DNS/gtlddnstext.html (text) I have enhanced the root and gTLD name server monitoring. Now instead of only graphing hourly query response, I am also graphing hourly ICMP 8 0 ("ping") response.
