I'm hoping someone can clarify my understanding of this Telecom Wholesale product. >From the Telecom wholesale web site I can see that each customer is delivered on a separate VLAN. What I'm not sure about is the encapsulation of the data being presented form the client. At the SP end, do they then need to provide a PPP layer (so effectively the VLAN replaces L2TP), or is it delivered ready for you to process like any "standard" VLAN circuit (aka, just needs L3 configuration added)?

Afternoon, We are implementing an offering from Delta over their Layer 2 Fibre network; most of you probably just use dark fibre but it's a good fit for us for some of our customers. I'm wondering what sort of equipment people are using as their physical connection to the network; we are having some issues getting some cheap and cheerful media converters to work that are connected at 100mb to a Catalyst 2960, their current thoughts are that the TX power is too high (28db measured at South Dunedin, we are Central) and we may need to look at putting an attenuator on to drop it down to the 8db they see on their other customer links. Before we go out and source an SFP to suit one of the other switches I want to get an idea of what other people are using. Ah, that explains the e-mail I had in my inbox the other day from a Delta engineer :-) For our layer 2 service, we use a Cisco LX SFP (GLC-LH-SM) straight into a Catalyst 3750 switch. That appears to work OK without attenuation (if I'm one of the other 8dB links :-)); we are about 700m from South City peering point, so distance should be around the same as to you from there. Also have a DLink DMC-810SC 1000Base-LX to 1000Base-T media convertor on one end connected to another GLC-LH-SM on the 3750 via our dark fibre pair to our upstream provider, around 4km, also works fine. I have the test results for that pair somewhere. No problems to report with either service in 2 years. Dear Colleague, This is to notify you that one or more objects in which you are designated for notification have been modified in the NZRR routing registry database. These objects are used to configure the various NZIX route servers (http://nzix.net/) so you can expect the relevant servers to be reloaded in the near future. The reloading of the servers is staggered over a period of time so that if you are peering with both servers at an exchange, you can maintain at least one BGP session at all times and consequently a full set of routes. IANA DNSSEC Testbed has been Decommissioned

Colleagues, Following advanced notice sent to this list on 2010-08-03, the IANA testbed was shut down on 2010-09-03. For more details on the IANA DNSSEC testbed, see <https://ns.iana.org/>. For more details on DNSSEC deployment in the Root Zone, see <http://www.root-dnssec.org/>. Queries to the nameserver bound to NS.IANA.ORG (208.77.188.32, 2620:0:2d0:1::32) now fail with ICMP type 3 code 3 (Destination Unreachable, Port Unreachable). We suggest that anybody using the DNSSEC testbed for anything resembling production services make plans to stop doing so at their earliest convenience, if operational necessity has not already made that obvious.
